These terms govern your use of Money8, operated by Forty Technologies ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Contact: wei.lu@fortytechs.com.
Money8 is software for keeping digital financial records and, where enabled, preparing and submitting tax returns to HMRC under Making Tax Digital. Money8 is a software tool: we do not provide accountancy, tax or legal advice, and nothing in the service constitutes advice. If you are unsure about a filing, consult a qualified adviser.
You must provide accurate registration details and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Accountant accounts may access a client's records only with that client's authorisation through the platform's linking mechanism.
Figures submitted to HMRC are derived from the records you (or your authorised accountant) enter, upload or import. You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of those records. Before any submission you must review the figures, and the legal declaration made at submission is made by you, not by us. Submitting false information to HMRC can result in penalties or prosecution. Statutory filing deadlines remain your responsibility.
Filing features require you to authorise Money8 with HMRC through your Government Gateway account. We never see or store your Government Gateway password; HMRC issues us time-limited tokens which we store encrypted. HMRC authority lasts up to 18 months and you can revoke it at any time (in Money8 or via HMRC). UK law requires us to send fraud-prevention data to HMRC with every request — see our privacy notice for details.
You must not use Money8 to submit information you know to be false; attempt to access other users' data; probe, disrupt or overload the service; or use it in breach of applicable law. We may suspend accounts that put the service or other users at risk.
We aim to keep the service available and accurate but provide it "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation. HMRC's own services may also be unavailable at times. We may improve or change features, and will not remove your ability to access your own records without reasonable notice.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence). Subject to that, we are not liable for losses arising from inaccurate or incomplete records you provide, from your failure to review figures before submission, or from missed deadlines; and our total liability in respect of the service in any 12-month period is limited to the amounts you paid us for the service in that period.
You may stop using Money8 and delete your account at any time; statutory record-keeping obligations for records already filed remain yours. We may terminate accounts for material breach of these terms with notice where practicable. On termination we handle your data as described in the privacy notice.
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified in the app and apply from the date stated. Your personal data is handled as described in our privacy notice. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
